【摘要】:Coresamplingisanacceptablewayofobtainingatestspecimenwithoutdestroyingtheusefulnessoftheelectrode.4.1.1TestspecimensobtainedbythispracticecanbeusedbyproducersandusersofgraphiteelectrodesforthepurposeofconductingthetestsinNote1toobtaincomparativephysicalproperties.Thispracticemaynotprovideatestspecimenoftheappropriatesize(withrespecttoparticlesize/sampledimensionratios)toallowthedeterminationofabsolutepropertyvalues.1.1Thispracticewasdevelopedforelectric-arcfurnacegraphiteelectrodes,andcoversaprocedureandequipmentforobtainingcoresamplesfromelectrodesinamannerthatdoesnotdestroytheelectrodenorpreventitssubsequentuseasoriginallyintended.However,theminimumelectrodediameter,forwhichextractionofacoresampleusingthispracticedoesnotinfluencesubsequentuse,isinfluencedbytheparticularapplicationandmustbedeterminedbytheuser.Graphiteelectrodesforuseinelectricarcfurnacesareusuallysolidcylindersofgraphitewiththreadedsocketsmachinedineachend.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note1-ThefollowingASTMstandardsarenotedassourcesofusefulinformation:TestMethodsC559,C611,C651,C747,C1025,andC1039.
